ISID and EDS Ltd PLM Solutions Division
Co-operate Strategically
Information Services International Dentsu Ltd (head office location: Nakano Ku, Tokyo; Chairman and Representative Director Jutaro Takinami; known as ISID for short) and EDS's PLM Solutions Division (head office location: Tokyo; representative director Mark C Cutler) have reached a comprehensive strategic agreement to co-operate in the field of PLM (Product Life-cycle Management) with a view to expanding PLM operations.
This co-operation benefits from the establishment by EDS of its fifth operating division, PML Solutions, with the acquisition of SDRC Corporation and UGS Corporation by EDS completed in September 2001.
[Reason for Co-operation]
At ISID, in addition to securing a stable supply of SDRC products, and adding EDS-PLM Solutions' strong range of products to the PLM concept that ISID has been promoting, it has been aimed to contribute to a further enhancement of the effectiveness of the manufacturing industry. On the other hand, EDS-PLM Solutions judged that the way to success in Japan required the co-operation of a partner that was strong in the PLM field, and that it needed an across-the-board co-operative partnership with ISID, given the latter's 20 years of experience in co-operation with SDRC in the Japanese MDA (Mechanical Design Automation) market.
[Scope of Co-operation]
- ISID will undertake sales of and support for all products developed by EDS-PLM Solutions
- • ISID and EDS-PLM Solutions will co-operate in respect of sales and marketing strategies and will seek to enlarge their business.
- From November, in seven locations throughout Japan, they will jointly put on 13 "Introducing EDS-PLM Solutions" seminars.
- Sales of EDS-PLM Solutions products will be expanded via ISID's sales partners.
[Organizational Aspects]
ISID will launch a project for implementing EDS-PLM Solutions business within its own manufacturing systems division, and will promote smooth joint business implementations with EDS-PLM Solutions.
ISID's more than 250 PLM-dedicated sales, technical and consulting team belonging to its Manufacturing Systems Division will develop business for EDS-PLM Solutions.

[Sales Goals]
Through the sales of the new software products that ISID will be handling as a result of this co-operative relationship, and through the related technical support services, the company expects to achieve a sales revenue increase of the order of a billion (1,000,000,000) yen during the fiscal year 2001 (ending 31 March 2002). In addition, ISID anticipates that this relationship, as the central feature of its manufacturing-industry-orientated business, will become the prime driving force behind achievement of its already-announced mid-term goals for 2003.
