Information Services International-Dentsu, Ltd. (ISID, head office: Nakano-ku, Tokyo, Representative: Jutaro Takinami, President & CEO) has established a local affiliate company in Shanghai, China, with a view to strengthen its business presence in China. Hitherto, the company had been conducting its marketing activities in Shanghai from a representative office established there but staffed by personnel from its Hong Kong affiliate company. However, in view of the striking penetration by Japanese manufacturing industries into Shanghai as well as the significant market growth for engineering and manufacturing solutions, the company has now established a local affiliate company on the spot. With Shanghai as the main bridgehead for the penetration of Japanese manufacturing industry into China, the new company will be well placed to give IT support to this expansion. It is to start its sales operations on 2 September.
For Japanese businesses, China represents an important functional base in various aspects: as a base for production, for sales and for materials procurement, and significant moves are under way as regards the establishment of a research and development sector centered on large-scale assembly industry in such fields as electrical machinery and precision instruments. This is because the development of new technologies and facilities to meet the requirements of national conditions has become indispensable in China that is making strikingly rapid strides in global competition, in development of manufacturing technology and production facilities of a wide variety of components, and in other fields. Shanghai is the center of this undoubtedly spreading trend.
ISID has been undertaking local systems implementation and consultancy work for Japanese manufacturing industries through local affiliates in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia. However, given the requirement to fulfill the client needs described above, the company has decided to embark on an expansion and rounding-out of its operating base.
